5 players who won IPL title after leaving RCB -TGN

It is regularly joked on social media that players who leave Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) get better careers in the Indian Premier League and even win IPL trophies apart from the usual trolling that Royal Challengers Bangalore has never won a trophy.

It is often due to the lack of stability in the RCB selection processes that do not give the players a sense of security, while in some other teams – like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings – the players feel a lot more sense of security in terms of their position in the side and feel more valued than Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Here are 5 players who won the IPL trophy after leaving RCB:

Shan Watson

Legendary Australian all-rounder Shane Watson had huge success in the Indian Premier League, winning the inaugural Indian Premier League title in 2008 with Rajasthan Royals, then reaching the 2016 Indian Premier League Final with Royal Challengers Bangalore, but losing to SRH in the final.

Royal Challengers Bangalore released Watson who subsequently joined CSK in 2018. In his first season with CSK in 2018, Watson won his second IPL trophy, a century in the 2018 final against SRH.

Parthiv Patel

India left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel played for six different teams in his Indian Premier League career from 2008 to 2019.

He was with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and was released after a regular season. But in the next year immediately after leaving Royal Challengers Bangalore, Parthiv helped Mumbai Indians to win the 2015 Indian Premier League title and Patel and MI also won the 2017 Indian Premier League trophy.

Patel returned to Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018 but failed to win the Indian Premier League title in two seasons under Kohli.

Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav played in the Indian Premier League for 5 teams in his career in the Indian Premier League. One of them was Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016 and 2017. But he and RCB failed to win any trophy. He was bought by CSK in the 2018 mega auction and Jadhav got his hands on his first IPL trophy that season, even though he only played in one match and was ruled out due to injury.

Quinton DeKock

The move immediately paid off for MI as de Kock helped them win two consecutive trophies in 2019 and 2020.

Mun Ali

England all-rounder Moeen Ali was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore line-up from the 2018 to 2020 Indian Premier League but never really got a consistent run in the team and had no regular position. He was handcuffed CSK in 2021 and made the difference at No. 3. Ali played in CSK’s title winning campaign in Indian Premier League 2021 and again in Indian Premier League 2023.
