Aaron Finch trolls Michael Vaughan with a sarcastic tweet -TGN

For the second successive tour of England, Australia have retained the Ashes urn after the series was 2-1 to Australia, following a draw in the 4th Ashes 2023 test in Manchester, thanks to an all day 5 outage.

Rain deprived England of the chance to aim for a win on Days 4 and 5. England were dominant at Old Trafford, but Australia escaped with the help of plenty of rain. Only 30 overs were possible on Day 4 on Saturday and not a single ball was bowled on Day 5 on Sunday.

Heading into Day 5, Australia trailed by 61 runs in their second innings and held 5 wickets. With no rain from the last two days, England would have had a good chance of victory, but the rain gods didn’t budge, especially on Day 5 when the showers opened up just as the players were getting ready to resume after lunch after the first session. Continuous rain and a wet outfield made it impossible to play at all on day 5.

Having captured the Ashes Urn, Pat Cummins and his Australian team will have a chance to win the Ashes series in England for the first time since 2001 when they play in the 5th and final Test at Old Trafford.

As Australia held on to the Ashes with rain helping them, much was said about Australia from the English media and former England players. Including Michael Vaughan who said the visitors were “timid, scared and terrified” and that I was the “luckiest” ever for a team on the verge of losing a test.

“Australia were shy, scared and terrified of this England team all week in Manchester, playing for rain. Australia was upset: I don’t remember saying that before. They will know only the rain saved them. It counts as one of the luckiest escapes I can remember,” Vaughan wrote in the Telegraph.

Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch took to Twitter to troll Michael Vaughan with a sarcastic tweet. Finch said it was the Australians who brought the rain to Manchester.

“Apologies… Pat and the team were in control of the weather,” Aaron Finch tweeted.
