John Sheridan Is Unstuck In Time In Babylon 5: The Road Home Clip (EXCLUSIVE)-TGN

Summary

  • Babylon 5: The Road Home is the first animated installment in the long-running Babylon 5 story featuring original cast members.

  • The movie, with a story by J. Michael Straczynski, follows John Sheridan as he becomes stuck in different realities and must find his way back.

  • The film explores the concept of the multiverse, fitting in with the current trend of stories centered around alternate realities, and celebrates the rich legacy of Babylon 5.

Babylon 5: The Road Home is a continuation, evolution, and celebration of the long-running story that began in 1993. Since Babylon 5 first aired, the story has been told across television, movie, novel, and comic book formats, but Babylon 5: The Road Home is the first time the world of the series has had the animation treatment. The movie even features the return of a number of original cast members including Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins, and Patricia Tallman.

The film boasts a story by series creator J. Michael Straczynski, and was directed by Matt Peters. It is unrelated to the previously announced but mysterious Babylon 5 reboot that was slated to come to the CW in 2023. Screen Rant is excited to premiere a clip from Babylon 5: The Road Home that sets up the primary obstacle of the movie. Check it out below:

Watch Babylon 5: The Road Home On August 15th

Babylon 5: The Road Home is a sequel to the original TV series and takes place two years after John Sheridan won the Shadow War. As shown in the clip above, the story revolves around John Sheridan becoming unstuck in time, and unable to return to his own reality. Sheridan must find a way back to his own timeline as he is tossed between realities and forced to grapple—sometimes literally—with what might have been.

If the plot of Babylon 5: The Road Home sounds somewhat familiar, it’s because it fits squarely in a zeitgeist dominated by stories about the multiverse. Films like Everything Everywhere All At Once and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse have proved critically and commercially successful, and other series seem to be taking advantage of the growing public familiarity with the concept of the multiverse. For Babylon 5: The Road Home, exploring the multiverse looks to be a strong and rewarding choice, as it offers a chance to celebrate Babylon 5’s rich and long legacy.

Babylon 5: The Road Home will be available to purchase digitally, on Blu-Ray, and 4K Ultra HD on August 15th.
