Jensen Ackles As Batman Fan Art Makes An Excellent Case For His DC Universe Casting-TGN

While the DC Universe has yet to tap an actor for the Caped Crusader, new fan art of Jensen Ackles as the iconic DC hero makes another strong case for him to be cast in Batman: The Brave and The Bold. As James Gunn and Peter Safran are busy working on the new DC Universe, there are several famous Justice League characters that they have yet to cast for the franchise. Even though they have tapped their new Clark Kent, as well as other superheroes for Superman: Legacy, fans are still waiting to see who will be cast as some of the more prominent DC figures.

One of them is none other than Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, who was recently played by Ben Affleck for the last time in The Flash movie as part of the DCEU. For Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Ackles is continuing to emerge as a popular choice, as new fan art (via @itssan17) imagines him as the Dark Knight.

The latest Batman fan art featuring Ackles sees the Supernatural star fully suited up with the Batmobile standing right behind him. Ackles has on numerous occasions expressed interest in taking on wanting a chance to play DC’s new Batman, as he is also voicing the Gotham City hero in DC’s animated Tomorrowverse.

When Will The DC Universe’s Batman Casting Be Announced?

Even though Batman: The Brave and The Bold has hired The Flash’s Andy Muschietti to direct it, the fans will have to wait quite a while until DC Studios actually cast the titular hero. The film is confirmed to focus on Bruce discovering the existence of his son, Damian Wayne, one of the famous Robins from the DC lore. However, there is currently no script in place, and no one can currently be hired for that gig in light of the Writers Guild of America strike.

Right before the SAG-AFTRA strike also went into effect, Gunn gave a disappointing Batman casting update, revealing that they weren’t anywhere near close to having an actor locked in for the role. Given that there is also not even a set release date for Batman: The Brave and The Bold, it wouldn’t be shocking if this project is a bit further down on DC Studios’ priority list when it comes to Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters.” With two massive Hollywood strikes happening right now, that could also further delay the actual casting process, especially without a script.

While Ackles would be a perfect choice as Batman, it all depends on how old DC Universe’s version of Bruce will be, given that Gunn is doing a reboot that will also feature younger takes on some of the iconic heroes. Whoever gets cast as Bruce would not only star in his own franchise but also in multiple DC Universe projects down the line. Even if Ackles doesn’t get tapped for Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Gunn will hopefully have another role for the beloved actor, who is already a fan-favorite amongst the DC audience.
