  • The exclusive poster for Blue Beetle for TheaterEars highlights the iconic Scarab suit against a white background, symbolizing a blank canvas for the future of the character and the DC Universe.

  • The TheaterEars app allows Spanish-speaking audiences to enjoy movies in their language, bringing families and loved ones together and promoting inclusivity in the movie-watching experience.

With Blue Beetle‘s release just around the corner, Screen Rant can offer a look at the first exclusive poster for TheaterEars. The DC superhero movie in 2023 introduces audiences to Jaime Reyes, who will be the first new character they meet from James Gunn’s DC Universe. Though the rebooted universe won’t begin until Superman: Legacy in 2025, all eyes will be on Blue Beetle for indicators of future movies’ tones and themes. Xolo Maridueña, best known for his role in Cobra Kai, plays the titular hero and has already been winning hearts with the trailers.

The TheaterEars app, which is available on iOS and Android, allows users to listen to movies in Spanish while at the theater. With only their smartphone and a pair of earbuds, audience members can sync up with the film of their choice on the big screen and hear a simultaneous track of dialogue. Blue Beetle is a perfect candidate for the app, as a Latino superhero deserves to be accessible to as many Spanish-speaking viewers as possible and celebrated in their own language.

A Closer Look At Blue Beetle’s TheaterEars Poster

The light shining out of frame creates a halo effect around him that is both aesthetically pleasing and presents him as a new hope for humanity. Given that he’s also one of the few remaining superhero releases of 2023, there’s a lot riding on Blue Beetle‘s shoulders.

Dan Mangru, the CEO of TheaterEars, gave Screen Rant insight into not only their reason for promoting Blue Beetle but also the significance that their exclusive poster holds. At the forefront of the conversation is the fact that Jaime Reyes is the first Latino superhero to make his way to the big screen.

Blue Beetle is an amazing milestone for the Latino Community, being the first mainstream Latino Superhero movie. We know that audiences of all types will really identify with Blue Beetle which revolves around key themes of family and coming of age.

We are thrilled to have our first-ever exclusive poster for a movie with Blue Beetle. Our fans are so invested in the app and our movies; this gives them the opportunity to engage even further.

When it comes to the design of the Blue Beetle poster, simplicity mixes with brilliance. As Mangru explains:

We went with the white backdrop because we see Blue Beetle and the DC Universe moving forward as a blank canvas in which Peter Safran and James Gunn will paint their vision. Many people aren’t as familiar with the backstory of Blue Beetle so the audience will walk into this movie with an open mind, without preconceptions as to what it should or shouldn’t be.

As one of the characters that will be part of the new DC Universe, we feel that Blue Beetle has a bright future that is just getting started which is why you see the light shining on Xolo Maridueña’s face. Xolo is also one of the rising Latino actors in the business today and we couldn’t think of a better young actor to take on this role.

The TheaterEars app itself is understandably a point of pride for Mangru, as it bolsters the interconnectivity of the Latino community in the United States, and can even help to bring families closer together.

Throughout the years, we’ve always strived to help Spanish-Speaking audiences enjoy movies in their language. Many times, spouses, parents, grandparents, and friends won’t go to the movies because of language and not being able to understand or enjoy the experience. With TheaterEars, we’ve sought to bring all of those people to the movies and together with families and loved ones. That’s the power of movies. We can bring together all kinds of people from all walks of life and can all enjoy something communal.

Finally, the TheaterEars CEO thanked Warner Bros. Discovery for their support and collaboration in the process of promoting Blue Beetle.

Many thanks to the team at Warner Bros for putting this film together and for their support throughout the years. They are a talented team, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Blue Beetle.
