Christopher Reeve Co-Star Hits Back at The Flash’s Superman Cameo Backlash -TGN

A Christopher Reeve co-star strikes back The flash‘s Superman cameo backlash. That has been debated for a long time The flash‘s DC cameos, bringing multiple deceased actors back to life, including Reeve as Superman, for an expanded multiverse series. The moment was off-putting to many, both because of the choice to bring back dead actors and the poor CGI the film used to mimic the recurring cameos. Since the cameos became public, fans have protested The flashchoice to use Reeve and others.

On Twitter, Small town Lionel Luthor actor John Gloverwho worked with Reeve on the show and in multiple plays The flash‘s Superman cameo.

According to Glover, Reeve would have loved to be there The flash because of his love for Superman. That penchant for Clark Kent was the reason why the actor Dr. Swan played Small town, featuring the former Superman actor interacting with the show’s younger Clark Kent, played by Tom Welling. Glover ends by saying that Reeve’s family/estate may have signed on for the cameo, if “Chris loved supporting the universe.”

Why Christopher Reeve’s The Flash Cameo Was So Controversial

There are a few reasons why Reeve’s The flash cameo was so controversial. The main aspect that has contributed to the backlash is its morality, with Reeve, George Reeves and Adam West being brought back from the dead through the use of CGI for silent cameos in The flash. There is no indication that The flash went to the actors’ family/estate to ask for permission to use their likenesses in the film, which has turned many fans against the cameos.

Another important factor is the actual appearance of the cameos. Like Reeve and some of The flash‘s returning actors are dead, the movie had to completely recreate them with CGI, and confusingly decided to do the same for actors who are still alive. While CGI in superhero movies can be a marvel to watch when done right, The flash is not that kind of movie. The DC movie has extremely poor CGI, which undermined the emotion of seeing such an iconic character as Reeve’s Superman back on the big screen, as the hero looked more like a video game character than a real person.

Added to that are the cameos that have been passed over in favor of using dead actors like Reeve. While Grant was unlikely to save Gustin The flash by showing up, the absence of Arrowverse’s Barry Allen actor, who has played the character for the past decade, has been one of the main criticisms from fans. Bringing back dead actors like Reeve, who has no relation to the speedster, instead of using Gustin or original The Flash TV actor John Wesley Shipp contributed to The flash‘s cameos get so controversial.
