Elon Musk hints he’s about to replace Twitter’s blue bird logo as he plans X app -TGN

Elon Musk says he could replace Twitter’s blue bird logo by Monday — as he moves forward with plans to rebrand the social network as X.

In a series of posts on his account, the billionaire said he intended to “say goodbye” to the Twitter brand and “gradually all birds.”

The Tesla and SpaceX boss also shared an image of him making an X sign with his hands, and a short promotional video of a flashing X logo.

It will be Mr Musk’s most significant change to the social media site since he bought the platform last October for $44bn (£38bn)..

But the switch has been going on for a long time with the entrepreneur, who announced his plans launch of “X, the everything app” even before you bought Twitter.

His idea is to combine messaging, social media, payments and a lack of dependence on ad revenue into one super app, similar to China’s WeChat.

Teasing the launch of X in a series of posts on Twitter, he wrote: “And soon we will say goodbye to the twitter brand and gradually all the birds.

“If a good enough X logo is placed tonight, we will go live worldwide tomorrow.”

He then shared a photo of a black and white version of Twitter’s bird logo — once dubbed “Larry T Bird” by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone — with the comment, “Like this, but X.”

An hour later, Mr. Musk shared a short video of an X logo.

Mr. Musk’s move to change the Twitter logo to X comes as Twitter faces competition from Meta’s new app, Threads, launched earlier this month.

Twitter responded by threatening to sue its rival technology company – the owner of Facebook and Instagram – for alleged copyright infringements.

Mr. Musk also recently launched his highly anticipated artificial intelligence start-up xAI in an effort to build an alternative to ChatGPT.
