Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane joins writers and actors from the series on the picket line, expressing how important the team behind the series is. The ongoing WGA writers and SAG-AFTRA actors strikes in Hollywood have halted production for all shows and movies being produced by studios that are part of the AMPTP.

Now, Seth MacFarlane has joined Family Guy writers and actors on the picket line ahead of Family Guy season 22, posting a message of support on Twitter.

In his post, MacFarlane talks about how the crew behind Family Guy are responsible for making the series as successful as it is. He also promoted fair pay by studios for writers and actors, hoping the labor unions and studios could come to a fair deal soon. Check out MacFarlane’s full statement below:

Pictured here are some of the incredible members of the Family Guy team this morning. Back in 2010, I was one foot out the door gearing up for “Ted”, with no sense yet of the future of the animated series without me. I needn’t have worried. The amazing team of writers, artists, actors, assistants, associates, production staff, etc. etc. were already steering the ship without me, and they’re still doing it today. They are people who have become my lifelong friends, and they regularly remind me of the best part of this business: working alongside people who utilize their talents and abilities to make your shared work better. I hope everyone in this photo takes a personal sense of ownership of Family Guy, because it is beyond deserved. And most importantly, EVERYONE here deserves to make a comfortable living in the industry to which they give so much of themselves. Very proud to walk the picket line with this group today. None of them should have to wait any longer for a fair and equitable deal. Also I’m so glad no one smelled the booze in my coffee.

Why Hollywood Strikes Have Been Going On For So Long

TV series Stranger Things, The Last of Us, Andor, Yellowjackets, Silo, and more have halted production due to the ongoing strikes. It seems the strikes will not end until the WGA and SAG-AFTRA have made a deal with the AMPTP that fairly compensates writers and actors for their work in the industry.

Writers and actors are currently fighting for residuals from streaming and AI regulation alongside higher pay. It remains to be seen if studios will agree with their demands and how long it will take for productive dialogue with the AMPTP to happen. However, AMPTP studios are willing to negotiate with the WGA on Friday, which could be a positive sign that the strikes will be over soon.

Despite this update, though, the fight for actors in SAG-AFTRA is still underway, and it’s unclear how talks with studios will go on Friday if they happen. One talk is also unlikely to settle every issue right away, meaning writers and actors from Family Guy and other shows will still be on strike for the foreseeable future. However, with MacFarlane’s support comes a boost of confidence that Family Guy writers and actors will benefit from the demands the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are fighting for.
