Harry Potter’s Tom Felton pokes fun at Draco Malfoy and looks like Ryan Gosling’s Ken -TGN

Harry Potter star Tom Felton has poked fun at Ryan Gosling’s Ken resemblance in the Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie movie and his famous Potter nemesis Draco Malfoy. Felton rose to fame in 2001 when he won the role of Malfoy Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonewhich he would portray in all eight Harry Potter movies. While the Harry Potter film series is an adaptation of JK Rowling’s best-selling novels, the Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie, is based on the Mattel toy line of the same name.

Felton took to his Instagram account to comment on the visual similarities between Malfoy (and Felton himself) and Gosling’s dense but attractive male doll. Check out the message below:

The post shows a side-by-side photo of a fresh-faced Malfoy dressed in Hogwarts garb, next to a blond Ken, dressed in an initialed polo shirt and holding a gold wine goblet, with the caption: “A little p*ssed that I never got a call back. #sLYTHERkENThe post is a reference to the visual similarities between the two characters, as well as a joke that Felton wanted to play the part of Gosling Barbie character.

Would Barbie have worked with Tom Felton playing Ken?

Felton has had a successful career so far, appearing in Flash season 3but he tends to shy away from mainstream movies after the worldwide success of the Harry Potter franchise. As such, it feels unlikely that he would ever have had the desire to get involved in a project like Barbiebut it would be interesting to see how the movie would have been different had he played Ken instead of Gosling. Barbie‘s early projections suggest the film will perform well, and the cast, including Gosling, have received positive response for their performances.

There’s certainly a world that Tom Felton’s Ken could exist in, but viewers won’t learn what that’s like and instead will have to use their imaginations to make that leap. Whether he in the role of Ken would have changed the dynamic of the film is anyone’s guess, and there would also be the fact that Gosling is considered a bigger star by marketing than Felton would be, so naturally this would have had an impact on the film.

In particular, the character of Malfoy is visually similar to Ken, although not as well built, so the comparisons aren’t baseless and it’s easy to make the connection with the images Felton provides. However, it should be noted that the actor’s post makes it pretty clear that the comparison is in jest, and it’s doubtful he even auditioned for the part. Barbie is expected to take in $90-120 million in its opening weekend, with Gosling’s performance playing a key role, but it still raises a what-if scenario if Felton had played Ken instead.
