ICC takes strict action against Harmanpreet Kaur -TGN

An ugly controversy erupted during India Women vs Bangladesh Women 3rd ODI in Dhaka as India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur lost her cool and hit the punches in anger. The incident has become one of the most talked about topics in the cricket industry.

For the inexperienced, Harmanpreet Kaur was given a leg-before-wicket by the umpire Tanvir Ahmed. However, the Indian captain was not happy with the decision and argued with the umpire before leaving the field. Harmanpreet even hit the stumps and directed some angry words at the referee as she walked back to the pavilion. On the way back, she even gave a thumbs up to the partying crowd.

It’s not, during the post-match presentation, Kaur called the refereeing standards pathetic. She slapped the referees and said:

They (Bangladesh) hit very well depending on the situation. They took those singles that were very crucial. In between we leaked a few runs, but we controlled the game very well when we were batting, but as I said before, there was some pathetic umpping.”

“We are very disappointed with some of the umpires’ decisions.

Meanwhile, Harmanpreet was expected to face punishment for her actions by the ICC. According to reports, Indian women captain Harmanpreet Kaur is fined 75 per cent of match money for her scuffle with the referees during India Women vs Bangladesh Women’s 3rd ODI in Dhaka. In addition to fines, Kaur also receives four demerit points for her behavior.

“For the on-field incident (breaking the wicket) she will be fined 50 per cent of her match money, while for the way she represented herself at the presentation ceremony she will be fined 25 per cent of her match money,” the official told Cricbuzz.

The 3rd ODI between India Women and Bangladesh Women ended in a draw. As a result, India vs Bangladesh ODI series also ended in a 1-1 draw.
