IND vs WI: Created 5 records in India’s second innings in 2nd test -TGN

INd vs WI: While England’s Bazball has taken Test cricket by storm, and most recently on Thursday and Friday in Manchester, it was India’s aggressive batting that broke Sunday and set some records against the West Indies in the ongoing 2nd IND vs WI Test of the series in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

On Day 4 in Trinidad, after bowling out the West Indies for 255 in their first innings, which was an answer to India’s total of 438 in the first innings, the Indian batters had to take an aggressive batting route to aim for a victory on a calm, lifeless ground and especially with rain threatening to cut time and overs out of the game.

Indian batsmen came out with all guns blazing from their second innings in the 2nd IND vs WI Test, smoking away 181/2 in just 24 overs before declaring the innings.

Here are 5 records made by Indian batsmen in their offensive second innings of the 2nd IND vs WI test:

Rohit Sharma’s shoots his fastest Test fifty

India captain Rohit Sharma shot his fastest Test fifty, off 35 balls as he came out with all intent and blew away the West Indies pacers with his delightful strike, 5 fours and 3 sixes in his 57 run knock off 44 balls.

His 35-ball half century is the 10th fastest Test fifty by Indians.

Rohit and Jaiswal set a new opening record in Test cricket

The fireworks in India’s second innings continued Yashasvi Jaiswal, who skipped the field and deposited Roach for maximum over cover. Jaiswal scored 38 runs off 30 balls, while Rohit took most of the batting in their 98-run partnership in 11.5 overs.

After 10 overs, India were 90-0 – the most runs scored by a side in an innings at the time.

By the time Rohit was dismissed, he and Jaiswal had added 98 in 71 balls. Its run rate of 8.28 makes it the fastest for any opening partnership by over 50 runs (although Marcus Trescothick and Michael Vaughan had once chased exactly 50 in five overs).

India soon achieved the fastest first 100 runs in an innings in Test cricket in 12.2 overs.

India reach 100 in just 12.2 overs – the fastest recorded 100 for any team in Test cricket.#WIvIND

Rohit and Jaiswal have serials to remember

Rohit and Jaiswal finished the series with 466 runs over three partnerships. This is now an Indian record for all Test series away from home, surpassing Sehwag and Akash Chopra’s 459 runs in eight innings in Australia in 2004/05.

Even considering home runs, only Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Chauhan (537 runs in 8 innings against Australia in 1979/80) and Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir (477 in 8 against Pakistan in 2004/05) have accumulated more runs for the first wicket.

India sets new Test cricket world record

India’s innings in the 2nd IND vs WI ended with a score of 181-2 in 24 overs – this is the fastest three-figure score (run rate of 7.54) in Test cricket history.

They scored 7.54 runs per over to finish just ahead of Australia’s 7.53 (declared 241-2 in 32 overs against Pakistan in Sydney in 2016/17).

Ishan Kishan joins Rishabh Pant

In his second Test match, Ishan Kishan brought T20 mode when he hit fifty off 33 balls in his first Test. This is the second-fastest Test fifty by an Indian wicket-keeper, behind Pant’s record of 28 balls.
