IND vs WI: Rohit Sharma creates new all-time record in test history -TGN

Over the past few years, as his game has dipped in white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma has found a belated second breath in his Test career.

An all-time legend in limited overs cricket, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been one of India’s top Test batsmen in recent years. While he was once bullied for his inconsistency and his lack of temper in the red ball game, Rohit Sharma is now Mr. Dependable from Team India in longest format.

This new all-time world record created by Rohit Sharma reflects his consistency in Test

Rohit Sharma now holds the record for most consecutive double-figure scores in Test cricket which is 30.

Rohit Sharma created a new all-time world record in Test cricket on Sunday when he broke a six to West Indies pacer Kemar Roach in the third over of India’s second innings in the ongoing 2nd Test at Port Of Spain.

This is a sensational record made by Rohit which indicates that he has made good starts for his team and has shown brilliant technique and temperament to ignore the new ball. And that in his last 30 innings he hasn’t been fired for a single-digit score.

Something people like Bradman, Sachin TendulkarVirat Kohli and Smith couldn’t – it’s Rohit Sharma who did this.

Reaching double digits in most consecutive innings:30* – Rohit Sharma (2021-23*)29-Mahela Jayawarene (2001-02)25 – Len Hutton (1951-53)25-Rohan Kanhai (1961-65)24 -Mahela Jayawarene (2002-04)24 -AB de Villiers (2012-14)

This is exemplary for all budding young openers, including Rohit’s new opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, about the temperament and technique required to tackle the new swinging ball in all conditions.

This run of 30 consecutive double figures for Rohit Sharma began in the 2021 home series against England. In that home series, he hit a century in Chennai on a turning point against England; and later that year, against the same opposition, in difficult England conditions, he scored 83 at Lord’s and 127 at the Oval.

Then, earlier this year, in another turning point in Nagpur, Rohit collected a great century against Australia. Against Australia in the WTC final, Rohit played an offensive batting of 43 at The Oval in India’s second innings, leading the attack from the front, but could not continue to record a big score.

He has started the WTC 2023/25 cycle with scores of 103 and 80 against the West Indies.
