Team India to adopt ‘BazBall’ approach? Ishan Kishan gave a blunt answer -TGN

England’s aggressive brand of cricket in Test known as ‘Bazball’ has caught everyone’s attention. Despite several setbacks, the England team perseveres, reflecting their dedication and commitment to the game of cricket. However, when it comes to the young and talented Indian player Ishan Kishan, it is not something a team has to do every day.

Kishan, who made his Test debut on the West Indies tour, registered his first fifty here in the second innings of the drawn second Test. As the need of the hour was to score some quick runs, Ishan repaid the team’s confidence.

Team India to adopt ‘BazBall’ approach? Ishan Kishan Answers

India scored 7.54 runs per over on Day 4 of the Second Test (declaring 181/2 in 24 overs) and drew all the pundits’ attention. At the post-match press conference, Ishan was asked if this is how India would play Tests in the future, as would England, whose aggressive style of play has coined the term ‘Bazbal‘. Ishan responded to this and said:

It is not necessary that you come in every day and start playing fast-paced cricket. That should depend on the situation. The condition of the fields also plays a role in how quickly one can score points.

Ishan played a tremendous 34-ball 52 stroke to help India set a 365-run victory target for the West Indies, but rain played spoilsport on the final day to deny India a clean sweep of the two-game series.

Ishan Kishan added: “Usually, where we play, wickets aren’t that easy… there’s turn and bounce. So playing fast on that surface is of no use because you have to read the wicket carefully.

“If you get a wicket where you can score quick runs and the need of the hour is to do that, then every player in the (Indian) team has the opportunity to fill that role.

“The kind of players we have and the number of formats and games we play, everyone knows their role – what game should you play in what way. So personally I think we don’t have to play every game like that (scoring fast), but it should be based on the situation.”
