Fans Are Slamming Ishan Kishan After He Tried To Stump Rovman Powell In A Controversial Way-TGN

Young Indian keeper-batter Ishan Kishan has come under the scanner of criticism after he tried to dismiss Rovman Powell in a controversial manner during the second T20I between India and West Indies in Guyana.

After incurring a loss in the first T20I, team India captain Hardik Pandya invited Windies to bowl first after winning the toss. Team India batters gave a poor start to the innings as they lost Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav inside the powerplay. The other batters too failed to live up to the expectations of the fans.

However, a powerful half-century by Tilak Varma powered team India to post a competitive total of 152 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a total of 152 runs, West Indies also got off to a terrible start to their innings as they lost as Brandon King and Johnson Charles in the very first over courtesy to Hardik Pandya. Kyle Mayers also departed during the powerplay.

However, Nicholas Pooran held the game tight and batted well from the other end. He was playing the knock cautiously before shifting the gears in the final over of the powerplay. He smashed his IPL teammate Ravi Bishnoi for 18 runs.

Ishan Kishan Tried To Stump Rovman Powell In A Controversial Way

But as things looked going towards the West Indies side, a desperate Ishan Kishan tried to turn things around for his team albeit in a contentious manner.

The incident took place right after the powerplay when Yuzvendra Chahal was introduced into the attack and the leg-spinner began by bowling a wide delivery down the leg side.

Powell tried to smash the ball but he failed to make a connection with the ball. While doing so he overbalanced but he had managed to keep his back foot grounded. Usually to overcome this situation and recover balance players lift their back foot.

Ishan waited for something similar from the Windies batter and Powell did the same but the batter brought his leg down before Kishan could stump him.
