Justin Langer Warns Australian Cricket Team After The Ashes 2023-TGN

Justin Langer’s Big Revelation About Australia’s Reaction To Bazball In Ashes 2023: Justin Langer, the former coach of the Australian cricket team, recently asserted that Australia was challenged by the aggressive cricketing strategy of England, often referred to as ‘Bazball’. In a piece penned for The Telegraph, he opened up about the intimidating factor this style of play had on his team during the recent Ashes series.

Interestingly, the Aussies had a promising start in the series, establishing a 2-0 lead right after the second Test at Lord’s. However, as the series progressed, they couldn’t maintain the momentum. Eventually, they had to be content with a 2-2 draw. Langer opined that the team was fortunate to avoid humiliation as the fourth Test at Old Trafford was a washout.

Despite the team not clinching a victory on English soil, a feat last achieved in 2001, Langer believes the Australian side will be relieved to leave England with the urn. As he put it, “Australia were limping at the end; just holding on.” They were evidently engaged in a tough contest over the seven-week series.

Langer further hypothesised about the emotions the players will experience as they return home. According to him, they will be relieved to escape the tough conditions of English cricket. He wrote, “When the players board their flight home, I have no doubt there will be a sense of relief.” This relief stems from the pressure of an exhausting series where the Aussies were under constant scrutiny.

England’s ‘Bazball’ strategy, an ultra-aggressive approach, proved to be a major game-changer during the series. Initially, it had many sceptics, including Langer himself. But as the series concluded at the Oval, most critics had turned into believers.

Langer conceded that he now fully supports Bazball and stated that it was this intimidating tactic that left the Australian team on the back foot. He commented, “Australia were on the backfoot when England’s batters married together ultra-aggression with batting smarts.”

From a distance, the aggressive ‘Bazball’ style of batting was an exciting spectacle. However, for the players facing it on the field, it was an entirely different experience. Langer observed, “Not only is it entertaining, but it is intimidating for any opponent, and that includes Australia’s world-class attack.”

Summing it all up, the Ashes series was a testing time for the Australian team, yet they managed to retain the urn. This, combined with the lessons learned from England’s audacious Bazball tactics, will surely be instrumental in shaping their strategies in future encounters. But for now, it’s back to the familiar comfort of home soil, where they can finally draw a deep breath of relief.
