KL Rahul Gave A Solid Reply To His Critics Who Doubted His Fitness-TGN
Indian keeper-batter KL Rahul has revealed that he worked really hard on his fitness before he made his comeback in the national team.
For the unversed, KL Rahul was out of the Indian set-up for a few months. He got injured in May during IPL 2023. He had sustained a thigh injury and then he underwent surgery. Later, he underwent rehabilitation and made a stunning comeback to the team during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023.
On his return following his injury layoff, Rahul scored a brilliant hundred against arch-rival Pakistan in the Super Four match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
He carried his form in the ongoing INDIA vs. Australia ODI series, where he is also leading the team. On Friday, September 22, Rahul stayed not out on 58 runs off 63 balls with four fours and a six. On the back of his knock, India chased down 277 with eight balls to spare.
KL Rahul Gave A Solid Reply To His Critics
After the match, Rahul said that questions regarding his fitness must have been answered after how he played in the Asia Cup 2023 and in the first ODI match. He also said that he knew when he would return to the side, he would have to keep wickets and bat. He said:
“I knew when I would return to the side, I’d have to keep wickets and bat. The physical challenges are a lot more compared to when I am only batting. I knew this, so I worked very hard on my fitness.”
He added: “As cricketers, we know the challenges that we will have to face on the field and we try to replicate that at training and practice sessions,”
When asked about his fitness concerns, KL Rahul highlighted his recent performances and said: “Everyone has seen me playing in the Asia Cup, I played all the games in the Super Fours. I kept 50 overs, batted and scored runs as well, so I think that question is answered for everyone who were concerned about my fitness.”
“Hopefully, I’ll carry on in the same way with a big two months coming up with the World Cup and the Australia series,”
