Netflix Is Bringing Back Denzel Washington’s Man On Fire Character

This surge in streaming views for Man on Fire comes just months after it was revealed that Netflix means to revive the movie’s lead character John Creasy in a new eight-episode series. Penned by Halo’s Kyle Killen, the upcoming show sees Creasy as “a broken ex-mercenary on a mission to avenge the death of his only friend, while protecting his fallen comrade’s daughter from the forces that destroyed her family.” Man on Fire was of course originally one of a series of John Creasy novels written by A.J. Quinnell.

It’s yet to be seen who will be chosen to step into Washington’s shoes in Netflix’s upcoming John Creasy show, but whoever takes on the role will have a tall task ahead of them. Man on Fire may not have been a critical hit, but it obviously still has many fans, thanks in large part to Washington’s commanding performance as complex hero Creasy. Director Scott’s stylish contribution to the film should not be overlooked either.
