Watch: Matthew Wade Made The Most Stunning Save In The Hundred-TGN

In match number 3 of The Men’s Hundred 2023 competition, fielding for the London Spirit, Australia’s Matthew Wade made a thunderous sixer save, saving four runs for his team in the nervy last moments of their match against the Oval Invincibles.

The iconic Lord’s venue hosted the game between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles on Wednesday night that saw the latter emerge victorious by only 3 wickets and with merely one ball to spare in their chase of 132 runs.

With 18 runs needed in the last 7 balls, the match hanging in slightly toward the fielding side, Matthew Wade, who was fielding at deep square leg boundary and doe not keep in The Hundred as Adam Rossington dons the gloves, made a jaw-dropping save to deny a six to Tom Curran.

Tom Curran whipped a low full toss from Jordan Thompson off his legs and the ball seemed to be initially sailing over Matthew Wade who was very close to the boundary line. However, Wade leaped in the air, and grabbed the ball with both his hands. Realizing that he was going to fall over the boundary line, Matthew Wade, still airborne, pushed the ball into the playing field as he tumbled across the boundary fence.

He got up and fired back the throw, almost running out the non-striker Sunil Narine. Replays showed that Wade was a few inches away from the fence and did superbly to save four runs for his team. He exhibited his athleticism and commitment to his team and got great applause from the Lord’s crowd.

Despite this sensational team-lifting effort from Wade, it was Oval who eventually got over the line courtesy of Sunil Narine smashing a six and four to Ellis when 12 were needed off 4 balls. Narine had earlier picked up 2 wickets as well, and duly bagged the Player of the Match award for his all-round show.
