MCU fans are still angry at Kevin Feige after his comments about Moon Knight‘s violence over a year after the show aired. Moon Knight was expected to be a more mature take on the MCU given the more inherently violent nature of the character from Marvel Comics. This was only bolstered by Marvel CEO Kevin Feige who went to great lengths to sell the idea that Moon Knight would deliver more brutality than other MCU shows. While the Moon Knight MCU show is more violent than others like Ms. Marvel or She-Hulk, fans are still angry at Kevin Feige’s comments about the show not cutting away during brutal scenes.

As exemplified by ZeroYear97 on Twitter, the post highlights the comments made by Feige before Moon Knight was released on Disney+. The long-running MCU president stated that the tonal shift with the show is evident and that, as a result, the violence will not be pulled back from regarding what can be shown on camera. The post then showcases clips from Moon Knight episode 1 involving the several times the show quite literally pulls away from more violent aspects, proving how Feige’s comments have continually angered fans craving a more mature edge to the MCU which Moon Knight season 2 could potentially deliver.

Why Moon Knight’s Had To Cut Its Violence

Given the resurgence of Feige’s comments about Moon Knight and the obvious outrage MCU fans still hold over seeming false promises, it is worth exploring why the show chose to cut its violence. As it turns out, there was plenty of story-based reasoning for Moon Knight to hold back in some sections of the show, especially in episode 1 as the above post highlights. The reason for the constant cutting away from fight scenes in Moon Knight episode 1 came from the titular character having dissociative identity disorder.

The character of Moon Knight in episode 1 has two personalities: Marc Spector, a mercenary who serves as the avatar for the Egyptian moon god Konshu, and Steven Grant, a museum worker with no knowledge of this. During Moon Knight episode 1, the plot is primarily showcased from the perspective of Steven meaning that, whenever Marc takes control of their shared body, the camera cuts to the aftermath of violence conducted by Marc. If the violence involved in these scenes had been shown earlier, Moon Knight would not only have lost a lot of its early intrigue but also spoiled the DID aspect of the show’s titular hero.
