Meet Ricky Ponting’s double who is also a sports champion -TGN

Most cricket fans have little interest in or connection to golf. But earlier this week, cricket fans showered former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting in a post from the official PGA Tour Twitter handle, congratulating Ricky Ponting on winning the PGA Open tournament in Golf!

Yes, this happened. Why? Because this year’s PGA Open tour winner, Brian Harmonwhile wearing a cap and sporting the smile after winning his trophy, looked very much like Ricky Ponting.

Who is Ricky Ponting’s double, Brian Harman?

The similarities in the faces of Brian Harman and Ricky Ponting, especially when the former smiled in the winning photo the PGA Tour Twitter handle posted, were uncanny. At first, any cricket fan looking at this photo would be mistaken – and duly forgiven – for mistaking Brian Harman for Ricky Ponting.

Brian Harman is a 36-year-old American professional golfer from Savannah, Georgia. He plays on the PGA Tour, where he has won three tournaments, most recently including a major championship win at the 2023 Open Championship. Harman won his first major championship at the 2023 Open Championship, finishing -13, six strokes off the rest of the field.

Ricky Ponting

Fans congratulated Ricky Ponting on his win and tagged him in this post. This quickly went viral and even commentator Isha Guha didn’t miss to have some fun with Ponting on Twitter.

Well done @RickyPonting 🙌 https://t.co/6Hkp72ujxL

Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting recently commented on the ongoing Ashes 2023 series in England where Australia have retained the Ashes Urn for their second successive England tour after the 4th Test of the series in Manchester ended in a draw as rain deprived England of a chance of victory on Days 4 and 5.

Ponting brought everyone’s mind back to Ben Stokes’ statement on Day 1 of the series at Edgbaston where Australia won by 2 wickets. The former Aussie skipper thinks that statement came to terms for England on Day 1, with Joe Root still at 118*.

“I think they will regret making a statement,” Ponting said on Sky Sports. “I think they will regret how hard they hit the bat in the second innings.

“A 280-run lead that was thrown away in the second innings. I think if you asked right after losing the toss, you’ll be happy chasing 280. I would have taken that.”
