Oppenheimer’s Metacritic score is fantastic, but it’s not Nolan’s best -TGN

Oppenheimer got a fantastic score on Metacritic, but it’s not director Christopher Nolan’s best on the site. Nolan has directed multiple critically acclaimed films, including The dark knight trilogy, StartAnd Keepsake. Of OppenheimerNolan explores the life of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his involvement in making nuclear weapons for the United States.

On Metacritical, Oppenheimer has a score of 90, indicating that Nolan’s latest film has received critical acclaim. However, according to Christopher Nolan’s Metacritical page, his top-rated film on the site Dunkirkwhich is at 94. While the release of Oppenheimer shows that Nolan’s direction is one of his best, the film is not quite comparable Dunkirk by Metacritic standards.

Nolan’s 2019 movie Dunkirk is a war film about the evacuation of Dunkirk during World War II, in which Allied soldiers retreated from the beaches of Dunkirk, France in 1940. Notably, the film is shorter than Oppenheimer‘s three-hour runtime, clocking in at 106 minutes. Dunkirk also focuses on an ensemble of characters, illustrating the event of the evacuation from multiple perspectives while staying true to history.

Due to the raw nature of Dunkirkis it understandable why the film has a slightly higher score than Oppenheimer on Metacritic. But even though Dunkirk has a higher score, it does not detract from the rave reviews Oppenheimer receives. Despite being historical films, the two films are vastly different Dunkirk image of an event and Oppenheimer depict a person’s life. Their similar scores reflect how Nolan is a master at making films with multiple focus, on one person or several people.

Of Oppenheimer which comes out this week, audiences will soon be able to judge for themselves whether the film is better or worse than Dunkirk. Since both movies have similar Metacritic scores, the viewing experience is likely to be of a similar, high quality.
