Roxburgh’s casting announcement, which took place during the show’s Saturday panel at San Diego Comic-Con, was accompanied by footage from the first eight minutes of Season 2. In it, main character Ben (played by Raymond Lee) didn’t come home, alluded to in the Quantum Leap Season 1 finale. Ben instead finds himself in the body of a man named Perez. He’s on a plane in 1978 flying somewhere over Russia. Cut off from communication with his team, Ben must make the jump alone.

Perez’s team – played by Roxburgh, Arnaud, Abrams and Byrne – is a member of the Air Force. They are commanded “with a secret mission to transport a mysterious chest to New Delhi“, per TVLine. But the plane is shot down by missiles before they can arrive at their location. But the giant crate seems to be very important, as Roxburgh’s character risks her life to keep it safe before the plane explodes. Ben’s life is also at stake in this opening scene.
