Scream 7 finally receives an update five months after Scream 6 was released with a new director reportedly in talks. Premiered in theaters this past March, Scream 6 continued following the new “Core Four” characters – Sam, Tara, Mindy, and Chad – as they relocate to New York City and are once again targeted by a new Ghostface killer. The latest sequel, which was directed by the returning Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, became the highest-grossing Scream movie domestically. This all but guaranteed Scream 7 would happen, though there have yet to be any official updates on its status.

Now, five months after the last sequel was released, a Scream 7 update has finally arrived. Though there is yet to be an official announcement from Paramount and Spyglass, Bloody Disgusting reports that Scream 7 is “definitely in the works.” In addition, Radio Silence reportedly won’t return and Christopher Landon is in talks to take over as director.
