Every Star Trek Show Ties Into Prodigy Season 2, Says Executive Producer-TGN
Summary
Prodigy season 2 of Star Trek will connect with every other show in the franchise, including a possible tie-in with Starfleet Academy.
The upcoming season promises to be even bigger than season 1, with elements from all previous shows and interesting storylines.
The return of beloved characters, such as The Doctor and the USS Voyager-A, deepens the connection to Star Trek: Voyager and expands the sequel potential for the entire Star Trek universe. #SaveStarTrekProdigy.
Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 will tie into every other show in the Star Trek franchise, says executive producer Aaron J. Waltke. In June, Star Trek: Prodigy was canceled by Paramount+, which removed all 20 season 1 episodes from the service. However, Star Trek: Prodigy‘s producers are still completing season 2 and are looking for a new streaming home for the beloved all-ages animated series. Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 even promises to go bigger than season 1.
Speaking exclusively to Screen Rant prior to Star Trek: Prodigy‘s panel at STLV: 57-Year Mission, executive producer Aaron J. Waltke was asked about a Tweet he sent hinting at a Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 episode that “ties together 56 years of Star Trek canon, lore, and legacy…” Read his response below:
Gosh, I wish that there was a way I can say that without breaking an NDA. What I will say is there are elements every single Star Trek show (that) sort of thread together and elements of shows that we are actively collaborating with. Maybe even Starfleet Academy. There’s elements of every other show, dancing around some very interesting storylines. And both some great, great performances by your own cast and maybe some familiar faces.
Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 Is Much More Than A Voyager Sequel
Star Trek: Prodigy was conceived as a semi-sequel to Star Trek: Voyager, with the inclusion of Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway and Hologram Janeway (both voiced by Kate Mulgrew), Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran), and the series originating in the Delta Quadrant that the USS Voyager explored. However, Aaron J. Waltke’s provocative hints promise that Prodigy season 2 will go far beyond even the many ties to Star Trek canon in season 1, from the loving homage to Star Trek: The Original Series in the episode “All The World’s A Stage,” the cameos by Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Lt. Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), Odo (Rene Auberjonois), and Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), and the return of Star Trek: The Next Generation guest stars Admiral Jellico (Ronny Cox) and Thadiun Okona (Billy Campbell).
Of course, a new clip of Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 shown at STLV proves the Star Trek: Voyager connection only deepens in Prodigy season 2 with the return of The Doctor (Robert Picardo) and the unveiling of the Lamarr Class USS Voyager-A for the mission to save Chakotay from an alternate future timeline. But Aaron J. Waltke’s teases of “every single Star Trek show,” possibly even including the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, tying into Prodigy season 2 offer truly fascinating possibilities as a sequel to all of Star Trek. Waltke and Star Trek: Prodigy’s executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman say they are “99% certain” the series will find a new streaming home. The millions of fans who love Prodigy, including the 32,000+ who signed the Change.org #SaveStarTrekProdigy petition, certainly hope this is the case to see Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 thread together the entire Star Trek franchise.
