Jack Quaid’s Ensign Brad Boimler is a notorious screamer, and a fan video edits all of Boimler’s screams in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ crossover episode into a 1-minute supercut. Boimler hails from Star Trek: Lower Decks and he and his cohort, Ensign Becket Mariner (Tawny Newsome), accidentally time traveled to the 23rd century to meet Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise. Boimler may have met his heroes like Pike and Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck), but the high-strung Ensign still did his share of screaming in Strange New Worlds‘ crossover.

On Twitter, popular Star Trek podcast @strangenewpod compiled all of Jack Quaid’s screams as Ensign Brad Boimler in Strange New Worlds‘ crossover into a hilarious 1-minute fan edit supercut video. Check it out below:

Boimler has a tendency to be panicky, but in his defense, he usually had ample reason to scream in Strange New Worlds’ crossover. Being flung through a time portal is legitimately terrifying. Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) and Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) deliberately spooked Boimler in the Port Galley, and Brad could have died when his experiment with Spock exploded. Plus anyone would scream if they boarded a shuttlecraft and found Mariner there sitting in the dark.

Jack Quaid’s Boimler & Tawny Newsome’s Mariner From Star Trek: Lower Decks Explained

Ensign Brad Boimler and Ensign Beckett Mariner are the co-leads of the animated hit comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks, along with Ensign Samanthan Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) and Ensign D’Vana Tendi (Noel Wells). They are all junior Starfleet Officers on the 24th century California Class USS Cerritos commanded by Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis), who is Mariner’s mother. Boimler was raised on a raisin farm in Modesto, California, but was inspired to join Starfleet by a poster of Number One (Rebecca Romjin) and her slogan, “Ad Astra Per Aspera.” Boimler is extremely knowledgable about Starfleet history and dreams of becoming a starship Captain. Brad briefly served on the USS Titan commanded by Captain Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes), and he has an identical doppelganger named William Boimler who faked his death and joined Section 31.

Ensign Beckett Mariner is Starfleet royalty as the daughter of Captain Carol Freeman and Admiral Alonzo Freeman (Phil LaMarr). However, Mariner has dedicated herself to the outskirts of Starfleet, preferring to remain an Ensign who can chart her own destiny rather than pursue command like her parents. Irreverent and undisciplined, Mariner nonetheless is a gifted Starfleet Officer who has had a fascinating career that has only been hinted at. With both Boimler and Mariner back aboard the Cerritos after Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ crossover, they are set to return in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, which will undoubtedly encourage more screams from Boimler.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 streams Thursdays on Paramount+.
