A new Star Wars fan-made animation has brought one of The High Republic Era’s most dangerous Jedi masters to life. Beginning with a significant publishing initiative introducing this early period in the galaxy, the High Republic’s first show is coming soon with The Acolyte live-action series set a hundred years before the events of the Skywalker saga. However, one Star Wars fan has revealed what the High Republic could look like in animation (and it’s really cool).

Posted on Twitter, the artist known as Artoo has revealed their animation of Jedi Master Sskeer, the Trandoshan Jedi who trained Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis. Wearing the traditional white and gold of the early Jedi Order during the High Republic Era, Sskeer is featured igniting his blue-bladed lightsaber. The amazing animation can be viewed below:

Using an equally impressive 3D background, Artoo’s superb animation will no doubt have Star Wars fans wishing Lucasfilm had a genuine animated show in development set during the High Republic.

Sskeer Is One Of The Most High Republic’s Most Powerful (And Complex) Jedi

Jedi Master Sskeer had a very complex journey beginning with his debut in Marvel Comics’ The High Republic series. Having lost his arm against the Nihil marauders in the Battle of Kur, the resulting trauma saw Sskeer gradually lose his connection to the Force. Tempted by the dark side which subsequently made him more aggressive and violent than most Jedi, Sskeer also became infested by the plant-based Drengir. Although he grew a new plantlike arm, Sskeer successfully ripped it and the Drengir infestation out of his own body following its attempt to corrupt him.

Remarkably, Sskeer losing the Force became an advantage once the Nihil started using the creatures known as the Nameless who could incapacitate Force-users. Although his ultimate fate may be unknown after the fall of Starlight Beacon, it would be very exciting to see Sskeer and many other Jedi during the High Republic receive the animated treatment in a new Star Wars show at some point down the line. In the meantime, this new fan-made animation for Sskeer is a great proof-of-concept for The High Republic’s potential.
