Boston Cop Falling Down A Slide Was The Viral Clip Of 2023… And Then Someone Made It Tenet-TGN
Summary
A viral video of a Boston cop falling down a slide is remixed to resemble a scene from the movie Tenet.
Commenters on Twitter make jokes and comparisons to Tenet, highlighting the film’s complex storyline and mixed reception.
The video demonstrates the power of editing to create parallels with Tenet, showcasing the film’s play with time.
A viral video of one Boston cop is edited to resemble Tenet. A short video clip emerged of a Boston police officer clumsily tumbling down a slide. Dressed in full uniform, the officer fell down a slide in City Hall Park. The officer returned to work after the viral slide flop, suffering only minor injuries from the playground fall.
A Tweet from DoingCigarettes reverses the officer’s viral moment. The post shows the slide clip, but instead of the officer’s normal tumble, the officer is sucked into the slide much like a backwards scene from Tenet.
The Twitter user made a custom headline for the post, saying “A Boston Police officer got sucked into a slide at a playground on Congress St downtown. Boston EMS is looking for the officer.” The remixed viral video recalls many of Tenet’s reversed scenes, where time and its human inhabitants move backwards. Even the warped sound, created in the video by the verbal reactions done in reverse, mirrors that of bullets being sucked backwards and other strange sounds in Tenet’s soundscape. The widely viewed video prompted many responses online. Check out some select ones below.
Commenters such a Dom Lucre, who chided “still better than Tenet,” reacted to the Tenet comparison.
User segmentum1 joked that this is what impeded a Tenet sequel.
Evil Dead Enthusiast went as far as to add a score to the clip.
TheDouggernaut compared the video to the plot of Tenet with an image saying it hadn’t happened yet,
Yuncle1 compared the clip to Tenet by adding a video of John David Washington in a backwards fight.
Nothing, Even This Hilarious Clip Edit, Can Fully Redeem Tenet
As the Twitter user created with his Boston cop falling down a slide remix, Tenet’s main appeal is its play with time. In Tenet, a group has discovered a way to harness time to make it move in opposite directions. As such, Tenet includes a number of complex scenes in which characters move forward and backward in time, manifested in their movement through physical space. This builds to a climactic final battle where armies of those affected by time battle each other while weaving through their inverted timelines.

In concept, Tenet’s play with time is fascinating, but in practice, it falls short. While Tenet contains its fair share of visual spectacle, the film also has a convoluted plot that lacks the tightness of Nolan’s other work like Inception and Memento. The film’s confusion led to a disappointing box office, as Tenet broke Christopher Nolan’s profit streak.
The commenters poke fun at Tenet, with some joking this slide video is better than Tenet. The video certainly brings out the best in Tenet, while leaving the ability to imitate the Nolan film given how a no-budget edit can parallel Tenet’s effect. Luckily for Nolan, he has bounced back with Oppenheimer, which despite many Barbenheimer memes has been universally praised.
