The sci-fi show, which originally debuted overseas, was picked up by TNT this year, giving more viewers the chance to delve into the intriguing time travel story. The series revolves around the titular Lazarus Project, an organization dedicated to stopping the end of the world through time travel. While the ability to alter timelines is supposed to be reserved for Earth-changing events, conflict arises when members of the group like George (Essiedu) want to use it for personal ends; in his case prevent the death of his girlfriend Sarah. Throughout the first season, George has become increasingly desperate, and things within the organization as a whole begin to collapse as members begin to turn on each other through a series of increasingly chaotic time loops.

Screen Rant‘s exclusive clip shows an emotional confrontation between George and Archie, who have been close throughout the first season. It begins with Archie bluntly telling George that he betrayed her, to which he replies that he “had to save her,” referring to Sarah. After discussing the difference between a need and a need, the conversation shifts to a “rival machine“, which Archie says is the key to fixing everything. The clip ends with Archie asking George to apologize to Shiv in the next time loop, assuring him that she’s “make it right.”

From the beginning, The Lazarus project has set itself apart from many other sci-fi shows by weaving interpersonal drama and relationships within the show’s overarching time travel narrative.
