Watch: Tilak Varma Started His T20I Career With 2 Massive Sixes-TGN

There is something very stylish and serene about the flow of Tilak Varma’s pull shot. He has exhibited that on numerous occasions during the last two IPL seasons for Mumbai Indians. And it felt apt that he kick-started his career with that dashing pull shot.

Tilak Varma may not look as big and muscular and lean as someone like Suryakumar Yadav or powerful as the pocket dynamo Ishan Kishan, but boy he’s got the gift of incredible timing.

So that super eye-pleasing pull shot blended with his timing and some power to kick-start his India career in the first India vs West Indies T20I in Trinidad with two blazing sixes against West Indies’ fastest bowler Alzarri Joseph, who looked utterly rattled with each of the two sixes, almost in disbelief as this 20-year-old debutant showcased his immense class.

With the field restrictions still up when Tilak Varma walked in the middle in the 5th over, at the fall of Kishan’s wicket, the debutant left-handed batter smacked consecutive sixes to Josepth on the 2nd and 3rd ball he faces in international cricket.

20 years ago, a 20-year-old young debutant may have had jitters and nerves on his debut. But with the help of the IPL, the young Indian players have got acclimatized to the pressure situations and facing world-class international bowlers.

With Tilak Varma, it was all class and calmness. A smooth flow of bat meeting the short balls from Joseph and going over the deep square leg boundary.
