Trans Pride Brighton will be “better and better than ever” in 2023 as the South Coast’s annual celebration of trans and non-binary people celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Founded in 2013 with just a few hundred attendees, Trans Pride Brighton has exploded, welcoming thousands of people to events designed to promote trans and non-binary lives and challenge the hostile rhetoric of politicians and the media against the community.

Trans Pride Brighton 2023, taking place a week after London Trans+ Pride, will consist of a full weekend of protests and celebrations in various locations across Brighton.

The festivities kick off on Thursday, July 13 with the 10th Annual Trans Pride Film Screening at Duke of York Picturehouse, featuring a series of “thought-provoking shorts that celebrate transgender stories from around the world.”

As funding is always a concern for smaller Pride events, a 10th anniversary gala will take place on Friday 14th July from 7.30pm BST, the day before the march.

The ticket event performances by Drag racing UK stars Cheddar Gorgeous and Dakota Schiffer, as well Drag Queen Story Hour host Aida H Dee, comedian Alexa Vox and comedians Bethany Black and Jordan Gray.

Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening during the Trans Pride Brighton year:

When and where will the Trans Pride Brighton 2023 march take place?

Trans Pride Brighton 2023 will take place over the weekend of July 14-16. The main event is the protest march, which will take place on Saturday, July 15, where thousands will gather to demand trans equality.

The protest march will begin in Jubilee Square with a series of speeches from 11am BST, before getting moving at 12pm.

The route will take protesters through the city center to Brunswick Square on the seafront, where a free Trans Pride Park celebration will take place from 1pm to 6pm, complete with music, stalls and food.

The confirmed line-up for Saturday’s Trans Pride Brighton celebration at Brunswick Square includes Rainbow Chorus, The Mollusc Dimension, Alice Denny, Husk, Simon Hauwaerts, The Bollywitch, Hunting Hearts, Yay Maria, Floralist, C*ntry & Western, Sea Glass, St Lucifer, Dee Diva and Daffodildos.

Is there a Trans Pride After Party and do I need tickets?

For those wanting to continue the party after the protest has ended, an official Trans Pride After Party will take place on Saturday, July 15 at Concord 2 beachfront nightclub in Brighton’s Kemptown, from 7:30pm to 3am the following morning.

At the after party, Texas-born singer-songwriter Akin Soul will perform and tickets for the night is £16.88.

Concession tickets are also available at £9.00 for those with no income or low wages “for whom the saving would make a difference”.

Partygoers can decide which ticket to buy, but organizers are asking that “if you can afford a full-price ticket, consider getting one.”

The festivities continue at Sunday’s Trans Pride Beach Party

Trans Pride Brighton will continue with a casual beach party on Brighton Beach on Sunday 16th July.

The free-to-attend event takes place from 11am to 5pm on the beach near Brighton Pier.
