Even though he failed with the bat in hand, Glenn Maxwell made up for more than that with the ball in his hand in the 3rd ODI between India and Australia on Wednesday in Rajkot.

Maxwell got a searing yorker from fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, which sent the Aussie ‘Big Show’ packing for just 5 runs after Australia’s top four of Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne all scored half-centuries. Australia didn’t find the finish they needed and were restricted to 352.

Australia also didn’t start right with the ball with the Aussie pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood all getting a proper hammering from India captain Rohit Sharma, who smashed 81 runs in 57 balls with the help of 5 fours and 6 sixes.

Glenn Maxwell, then, with his more-than-handy off-spin brought Australia back in the game single-handedly with the ball. He first dismissed make-shift opener Washington Sundar. He then broke the dangerous partnership between Rohit and Virat Kohli, the pair added 70 runs in 61 balls, and seemed to be running away with the chase.

However, a moment of madness from Glenn Maxwell put an end to the Rohit Sharma show. Continuing on his intent, Rohit looked to thump Maxwell down the ground for a boundary. However, the bowler put his right hand over his right shoulder and took a jaw-dropping catch. Such was the unbelievability of this catch that even Maxwell himself was stunned by it.

Maxwell could also be seen mouthing to the non-striker Virat Kohli, his RCB teammate, that “I couldn’t believe it”.

Maxwell then made further dents to India’s innings. He got two more big wickets – that of Virat Kohli, who looked set for a century, but got out on 56 runs, and later he got rid of Shreyas Iyer, who scored 48 runs. In his first 7 overs, Maxwell conceded 32 runs and took 4 massive wickets, all but sealing the game for Australia.
