(VIDEO) Mohammed Shami Uprooted Steve Smith’s Leg-Stump With A Jaffa-TGN

After being overtaken by Mohammed Siraj as Jasprit Bumrah‘s fast-bowling partner in the ODI side, senior pacer Mohammed Shami made a strong statement in the 1st ODI against Australia on Friday in Mohali.

On what was moreover a flat pitch at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Mohammed Shami took two big wickets in his first two spells, one with the new ball and another in the middle-overs.

He swung the new ball just enough, and pitched it just full enough to take the outside edge of opener Mitchell Marsh’s bat. Then, in his second spell in the middle-overs, Shami once again proved his worth by castling the ominous-looking Steve Smith for 41 runs.

Steve Smith, who generally likes to score big runs and plunder centuries against India, was once again looking in superb, flawless touch today and had set off with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

However, his innings was cut short by a brute of a delivery from Mohammed Shami. It wasn’t a high pace ball – clocking 130 KPH – but Shami put it in the right line and length: on a good length just outside the off-stump.

Seeing that, Smith went for a booming drive, but the ball sharply seamed back into the right-hander after landing on the pitch with an immaculate straight seam – something that is trademark with Shami – and took the inside-edge of Smith’s bat to knock over the leg-stump out of the ground.
